BONAMICI Mario, peintrené à Paris en 1912 et décédé à Lausanne en 2002. Issu d’une famille de peintresitaliens et dont les parents arrivent en France en 1910, Mario BONAMICI futinitié très tôt au dessin et à la peinture. Il suivit dès l’âge de seize ansles cours de l’Ecole des Arts Décoratifs et fit ses débuts dans le renomméatelier Jarach et Chambry comme illustrateur. Il fréquenta le milieu de lamode, du théâtre et du cinéma. Son coup de crayon génial fut remarqué et ilconsacra une partie de sa vie professionnelle en France comme en Suisse commedessinateur de mode parallèlement à sa carrière de peintre.

BONAMICI Mario, born in Paris in 1912, died in Lausanne in 2002. Born into a family of Italian painters whose parents arrived in France in 1910, Mario BONAMICI was introduced to drawing and painting at an early age. From the age of sixteen he attended the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs and began his career as an illustrator at the renowned Jarach et Chambry studio. He frequented the worlds of fashion, theatre and cinema. His brilliant pencil strokes were noticed and he spent part of his professional life in France and Switzerland as a fashion designer alongside his painting career.
This large and beautiful work, a richly coloured oil on panel from the 1970s, depicts a view of the famous Place du Tertre in the Montmartre district of Paris. The fast, colourful brushstrokes create a vibrancy that brings to life this place, teeming with people.
