Indonésie, île de Bali, XIXème siècle, important et très ancien broyeur de noix de bétel, complet avec son "fourreau".
Le manche est joliment décoré d'une sculpture en os représentant un oiseau doté d'une tête d'homme, perché sur ce qui semble être du feuillage. Superbe patine d'âge sur la sculpture. La base du manche est en bronze, et la lame est en fer. Le fourreau est en bois.
Il s’agit d’un objet très rare du fait de son manche particulièrement élaboré.
Hauteur du broyeur 23 cm. Hauteur du fourreau : 11 cm.
Bon état si ce n’est des usures normales liées au grand âge de la pièce, sans incidence sur la belle esthétique.
Provenance : ancienne collection néerlandaise.

Indonesia, island of Bali, 19th century, important and very old betel nut grinder, complete with its ‘scabbard’.
The handle is beautifully decorated with a bone carving of a bird with a man's head, perched on what appears to be foliage. Superb age patina on the carving. The base of the handle is bronze, and the blade is iron. The scabbard is made of wood.
This is a very rare object because of its particularly elaborate handle.
Height of the grinder: 23 cm. Height of the scabbard: 11 cm.
Good condition apart from the normal wear associated with the great age of the piece, which has no effect on its aesthetics.
Provenance: former Dutch collection.
