Indonésie, île de Java, début du XXème siècle, très joli et ancien masque du théâtre du Wayang Topeng en bois polychrome figurant le personnage de Panji Brajanata, prince illégitime du royaume de Kediri.
Pièce particulièrement bien exécutée, tant dans la sculpture que dans la qualité de la peinture.
Hauteur du masque 19 cm. Largeur 15,8 cm.
Bon état de conservation par rapport à l’ancienneté et en raison de son usage puisqu’il a été porté par des danseurs.
Nous signalons quelques petits manques et une restauration ancienne sous le menton, très peu visible et même invisible lorsque le masque est présenté à la verticale. La 11ème photo prise en macro accentue les écueils. En réalité cette restauration est sans incidence sur l’esthétique.
