Peintre de l’école provençale né dans une famille d’artistes, Fortuné CAR débute comme peintre de décors de théâtre dans un vaste atelier hérité de son oncle. Après la seconde guerre mondiale, il se consacre à la peinture de chevalet, n’ayant de cesse de peindre des bords de mer sur la côte d’Azur et des paysages de sa Provence dans l’arrière-pays. Les œuvres de cet artiste ont séduit de nombreux amateurs tant en France qu’à l’étranger. Son style dynamique et coloré, généreux dans la matière en relief, confère à ses œuvres une beauté caractéristique de ses origines.
Ce tableau des années 1950, une huile sur carton figurant une bergère et ses moutons au pied d’un autel dédié à la vierge en est un bel exemple.
Bon état dans son cadre d’origine.

A painter of the Provencal school born into a family of artists, Fortuné CAR began as a painter of theater sets in a large workshop inherited from his uncle. After the Second World War, he devoted himself to easel painting, never ceasing to paint seashores on the French Riviera and landscapes of his Provence in the hinterland. The works of this artist have won over many amateurs both in France and abroad. His dynamic and colorful style, generous in the relief, gives his works a beauty characteristic of his origins.
This 1950s painting, an oil on cardboard depicting a shepherdess and her sheep at the foot of an altar dedicated to the Virgin, is a fine example.
